COVID-19 AND ITS VACCINES
AWARENESS IS THE KEY TO SAFETY
COVID-19
COVID-19 stands for Corona Virus Disease, it is the virus that swept the entire world into a pandemic and flipped the world as we know it upside down, creating a new “normal.” When will it end? Well, nobody is really sure, as the last time a corona virus caused a pandemic was the Spanish Flue that occurred in February 1918 and lasted until April 1920. One thing for sure is that it doesn’t seem like the COVID-19 pandemic is slowing down any time soon as new variants of the virus keep popping up becoming more infectious, but thankfully not more fatal, unlike if other viruses like MERS-CoV (Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus Disease) which had a fatality rate of 32.7% or the EBoV virus ( Zaire ebola virus or Ebola virus) which has an average fatality rate of 50%. Despite COVID-19’s lower fatality rate compared to other viruses, this does not mean we should stop being careful, in fact we should be more careful because of the COVID-19 virus being so easy to spread and being more fatal to those with underlying health conditions. The following conditions puts a person more at risk of developing more severe symptoms of COVID-19, hospitalization, and even death:
